Holiday groups – where to stay in the Shropshire Hills
When you’re a large group finding somewhere to stay, whether it’s for a stag or hen party, a corporate getaway or you’re just away with friends finding somewhere that can accommodate you all can often be a struggle but thankfully the Shropshire Hills boasts a tremendous selection of locations, all detailed below.
Eaton Manor is a marvellous country estate, a few miles from Church Stretton, with eight separate luxury self-catering cottages. The cottages, sleeping from two to 14, are in two groups, a five-minute walk apart. These combinations mean groups of up to either 39 or 61 can be accommodated, so you can host a really good get-together.
Eaton Manor offers a big range of extra services to make sure your gathering goes with a swing, including magic shows for the kids, party balloons, drop-off suppers and a full chef service.

Eaton Manor
The site is pet-friendly and offers a complimentary indoor swimming pool, in summer, as well as croquet and other games and a range of activity workshops. Also on site are a banqueting room big enough for everyone, a wellness centre, offering a range of massages for men and women, and even an Olympic-size archery centre, with professional coaching.
Besides families, Eaton Manor caters for corporate groups, weddings and its hen party package includes a three-course dinner, an archery lesson and a choice of other activities on site.
For smaller groups, how about staying in a castle – Castle House Lodgings is situated in the private grounds of Ludlow Castle and set inside the Castle Walls. The three self-catering apartments (sleeping 12 in total) have been fully restored and renovated to the highest specification.
Each apartment sleeps 4 with 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, fully functioning kitchen with all mod cons, sitting/dining room, unparalleled views of the Castle and the Shropshire Hills. Private Parking space and Local to Ludlow Hamper incl. red & white wine and free tickets into the Castle are included.

Mocktree Barns is a collection of five self-catering holiday cottages in converted farm buildings, seven miles from Ludlow, and the owners place particular emphasis on their environmental credentials and are proud of their Green Tourism Gold Award. There’s a ten per cent discount if you arrive in Ludlow by public transport, where you can pick up a Co-Wheels car to complete your journey. A hamper of locally sourced produce can be ordered for your arrival.
For group holidays on a budget, Greenway Touring and Glamping, in a picturesque setting, near Craven Arms, welcomes small groups in its glamping pods, each of which sleeps two.
