The Prince Arthur & Catherine of Aragon Apartment
Prince Arthur (1485-1502), was the popular elder son of King Henry VII. Following a proxy marriage in 1499 to Catherine of Aragon they spent four months at Ludlow Castle on honeymoon before his death on 2 April 1502. Catherine returned to London and some years later married his brother Henry VIII.
This grand and spacious apartment is on the first floor of Castle House, with some internal stairs leading one around a curious circular route of the apartment. The fabulous and well- proportioned sitting room/dining room, with comfortable leather sofas, has leaded windows overlooking the castle and across the beautiful Corvedale Valley to the North.
The apartment benefits from a flat screen SMART TV with Sky TV (free channels), BBC i player and a USB port to watch your own films, a micro hi-fi system with Dab radio and CD player and Wi-Fi Broadband Internet access .
Bedroom 1 is generous and well appointed with twin beds, these can be zip-linked to form a king size (if requested in advance), and interesting features including an ornate fireplace and leaded windows (one of which is the tiniest window in the whole house!) forming a bay, with stunning views of the Corvedale.
The Beacon Tower bathroom adjoining this bedroom has a free standing roll- topped claw -footed bath and separate walk- in shower… a truly unusual bathroom.
Bedroom 2, has twin beds, and overlooks Castle House garden and the castle’s outer bailey. There is space in Bedroom 2 for one child’s bed to be added. The bathroom opposite this bedroom has bath and over- bath shower.
The fully- fitted kitchen is in the centre of the apartment however the interesting roof window lets in natural light. Appliances: Gas hob and electric oven, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine/drier, fridge/freezer and all essential utensils.
Smoking and pets are not allowed in this apartment.
There is one designated car parking space for this apartment.
Sir Henry Sidney
Sir Henry Sidney, Lord President of the Council of the Marches (1559-1586), probably built The Judges’ Lodgings (in the inner bailey of the castle) to accommodate the many judges, attorneys and clerks who needed to live or stay at the castle when the courts of the Council of the Marches were in session. His coat of arms can be seen above the entrance to the inner bailey when crossing the moat.
The Sir Henry Sidney apartment is situated on the first floor of Castle House and these handsome rooms have views over the castle’s outer bailey towards Whitcliffe, a local beauty spot – which itself grants visitors to Ludlow stunning views of the town and Clee Hill.

Bedroom 2 has twin beds, an en-suite bathroom, with over- bath shower. A lovely window seat adds a relaxing feature to this room. As bathrooms are accessed via bedrooms this apartment is best suited for single family occupation.
Smoking is not allowed. A maximum of two dogs are allowed in this apartment (£3.00 per dog, per night)

The Comus apartment is situated on the second floor of Castle House, nestling among the eaves and centuries-old beams of this building. The apartment provides accommodation bursting with character and charm, more akin to a cottage
The sitting room has French doors leading out on to a small roof terrace, making if feel light and spacious. The roof Terrace, with table and benches, provides truly unrivalled views of the castle, the surrounding countryside and the town centre – a perfect birds-eye view of the fascinating roof tops and architectural chimney pots of Ludlow and any event taking place in the castle’s outer bailey.

The kitchen is compact but fully fitted, with views across Ludlow. Appliances: Electric hob and electric oven, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine/drier, fridge/freezer and all essential utensils.
The dining area is situated on the landing at the entrance to the apartment – with natural light from a newly – installed roof window.
Bedroom 1 has twin beds, set in the eaves with sloped ceilings. The bathroom leading from bedroom one via a low beam and curious door is delighful with an free standing bath with over bath showersset in the eaves, – and a view of the original domed lantern.
Bedroom 2 has twin beds, set in the eaves with sloped ceilings. The compact bathroom for bedroom 2 is across the landing, with bath and hand shower.
