Ludlow is a very historic town – so there are some challenges for wheelchair users, but here are a few helpful sources of information.
Places to visit in Ludlow with good accessibility for wheelchairs/ lifts/ disabled toilets etc
Ludlow Castle – good facilities – but need to push over grassy paths too.
Ludlow Assembly Rooms – films and theatre

Ludlow Leisure centre
Ludlow Brewery ( Brewery tour is not accessible)
Ludlow Market is fun to visit and is fully paved – and toilets in the car park
Ludlow Tourist Information Centre in the assembly rooms – very helpful staff pick up a town map from the tourist information centre in the assembly rooms
If your wheelchair pusher is fit – then the walk around the castle perimeter is beautiful – but is not all tarmac and has some steeper sections

Ludlow rail station has a ramp for wheelchair users (but travellers arriving on the southbound line involves a longer walk to get into town)

Mortimer Forest has an “all abilities” trail from Vinnalls Car Park
Croft Castle (National Trust) has Tramper motorised wheelchairs to visit their gardens and accessible toilets and cafe
Ludlow Tourist office also has stocks of “Caring and Sharing in Ludlow” which is produced by South Shropshire disability Access Group. It lists accessible shops, hotels, cafes, restaurants, takeaways, Public building and places of worship. It also points out when disabled toilets are not available which unfortunately applies to several pubs due to the nature of the buildings.

Places to visit in Craven Arms with good accessibility for wheelchairs/ lifts/ disabled toilets etc
Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre, prides itself on it’s accessibility, with visitor centre, cafe, toilets and fully accessible meadows and a dipping platform
Stokesay Castle – Castle has grassy paths and upper floors are not accessible, grounds and cafe are accessible – wheelchairs available, toilets.
Craven Arms rail station – good accessibility on southbound line from shrewsbury, poor accessibility northbound from Ludlow
Greenway Touring and Camping – accessible with very helpful owners
CHURCH STRETTON
Places to visit in Church Stretton with good accessibility for wheelchairs/ lifts/ disabled toilets etc
Antiques centre – has a lift, but narrow passageways
Cardingmill Valley (National Trust). Accessible parking and toilets (in cafe) some paths are suitable for wheelchairs – but with fit and willing pushers!
Church Stretton Rail Station – involves a walk from both platforms to get between platforms and the town.
The Stiperstones – All Ability Trail – “The 500m all ability trail starts at the main car park ” “The needs of wheelchair users and people with visually impaired have been well-considered here, as plenty of rest areas and a tapping-rail have been provided along the course of the path. Visitors should note that the condition of the path deteriorates somewhat after the end of the all-ability trail. The site is very exposed, so be warned: the weather is often extreme! Toilet and refreshment facilities can be found in local villages, including disabled toilets in the nearby village of Snailbeach.”
