  • Get up close and personal to Shropshire’s larger than life mammoth and step back into the Iron Age. If you’re looking for somewhere to take the kids or grandkids during the summer holidays we have several family events to keep children and adults amused and entertained.

View the Shropshire  Hills Through Time, a brand new panoramic film over the Shropshire Hills’ stunning landscape.  You can see all the best bits and get the finest views without leaving the ground or climbing a single hill!

Set in a unique grass roofed building, the Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre has a popular café serving local lunches, frothy coffees & Shropshire cream teas – Eat in, eat out or take-away! (perfect for a picnic)

Just outside there’s the 30 acre Onny Meadow, well signposted for gentle strolls along riverside paths, through wild flowers and woodland. Well behaved dogs are welcome so everyone can stretch their legs.

Events & activities kids will love

    “Fantastic Facility for kids”

Have you ever seen a water-nymph, built a house of sticks, gone in search of hidden bears, or been on a virtual dinosaur dig? If not, now is your chance! Perfect for the young and the young at heart.

Explore nature and get creative. There are ‘toddle time’ events for our youngest visitors and we do great children’s parties, educational and group visits too.

‘‘This is the most ‘funnest’ day I’ve had all year’’

Geo-caching (hi-tech treasure hunts) available all year round. Craven Arms Farmers Market first Saturday of every month. Please visit our website for a full programme of events.

    Award winning Café

Drop into our licensed Café for frothy coffees with homemade biscuits, local lunches and Shropshire cream teas. Our home-cooked menus use local produce to bring you a true taste of the Shropshire landscape, with Sunday lunches a speciality.

There is also outdoor seating overlooking the meadow, really great when the sun is shining.

“Café is excellent. Great locally sourced food.”

    Visitor Information Centre

Your first port of call to find all there is to see, do and explore in the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Here you will find the very best places to stay and all the info on local events and activities.

    Gallery & Exhibitions

Alongside the permanent exhibits there is a regular programme of exhibitions by local artists and crafts people. Things to admire and things to buy too.

    Gift Shop

Local books, maps and lovely things.
“I like the shop for their quirky gifts”

Admission fees only apply for the Secret Hills exhibition – it’s free to come into the centre!
