The season of sunshine and cream teas is well and truly upon us and we hope that you have had an enjoyable and busy season so far with visitors to the Shropshire Hills. The jubilee weekend certainly created plenty of buzz and excitement.

Visit Shropshire Hills Social Media
to get a ‘Reboot’

The Visit Shropshire Hills Facebook and Instagram accounts have been a little neglected of late, so the committee have been looking for someone to help reboot our social media. We’re very pleased to say that Karen Thorne – who many of you will know from her 18 years in the Shropshire tourism sector – has agreed to help us get things up and running again.

Karen is the owner of the Bed and Breakfast Academy and used to run Hopton House B&B. If you already follow any of Karen’s social media accounts for the Bed and Breakfast Academy and her dogs Saffy & Raphie, you will know that she comes with excellent credentials – a flair for social media, a passion for Shropshire and a wealth of knowledge and experience in tourism marketing, to name a few!

Free Training Resources

With the addition of the social media ‘reboot’, Karen will be helping us to deliver some social media and marketing training (which will be free for members) later in the year. Dates and times to be confirmed, but we will aim to deliver training on days and at times that suit our members.

Accessible Shropshire Hills

We have been asked about local facilities in Ludlow and the Shropshire Hills for people with accessibility needs. A new blog article on our website here has a quick round up of places to visit in the Shropshire Hills that have disabled facilities and are suitable for wheelchair users.

We will add to this list as more information becomes available. If you have any suggestions of places to add, please contact us at info@visitshropshirehills.co.uk. If you would like to add info about your own business’s accessibility for disabled visitors, we would be happy to add it to your database listing – see below for an example.

The Shropshire Hills Shuttle Bus is Running!

The Shropshire Hills shuttle buses are back on the road, running every weekend and bank holiday until the end of September. New for 2022 – we now accept contactless payment on the buses, along with cash and concessionary bus cards, and you can find out where the bus is using the ‘realtime’ online timetable, search ‘780 Long Mynd Stiperstones’.

Electric Vehicle Charging Points – Grants Available

As an increasing number of visitors turn to electric vehicles, we’re conscious that it can be a challenge finding somewhere for them to charge up. If you have installed a charging point, or if you know of one nearby, please let us know so that we can start to build up a directory of charging locations. If you haven’t yet seen our revamped website, now would be a good time to have a browse. While you’re there, have a look at your listing and check that everything is up-to-date, then email us at info@visitshropshirehills.co.uk if anything needs changing.
