Shropshire’s Great Outdoors | Get Out and Get Active
If you enjoy getting out and about in Shropshire’s Great Outdoors then you will love the latest website that has just been launched by the Shropshire Outdoor Partnership team at Shropshire Council. IÂ certainly champion anyone who is celebrating all that Shropshire has to offer. I will be keeping a close eye on their recommendations for a great day out!
Like us here, at visitshropshirehills.co.uk, Shropshire’s Great Outdoors has been designed to allow both residents and visitors to the UK’s largest land locked county to discover its fantastic countryside and wonderful wildlife.
I am looking forward to exploring places in Shropshire I have yet to visit. These include some of Shropshire’s Green-flag Award winning country parks as well as some of the long walks on the 5,500 kilometres of Public Rights of Way (not all in one go I hasten to add!). The new website celebrates the Shropshire Hills designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and, for me, this is the perfect place to enjoy the great outdoors.
I like the way the the website is presented in handy sections highlighting promoted walking, cycling and horse riding routes. Each section is designed to reveal the many great outdoor pursuits Shropshire’s beautiful and varied landscape has to offer.
Another key feature is the ‘Top Outdoor Experience’ section. Over the coming months I will be trying some of these out and sharing them with you. I started in the glorious weather we experienced earlier this month, with a ‘bracing walk across Stiperstones’. If you have never been to Stiperstones then I cannot recommend a visit strongly enough. You are rewarded with some of the most breathtaking views of Shropshire.
I walked with my husband and little girl and at the top we enjoyed a blustery but wonderful picnic, taking time to soak up Shropshire’s breathtaking landscape.
I am already planning my next outdoor experience with my family, so why not start planning a Shropshire’s Great Outdoors adventure too?
