VSH member Terry Moore wins Countryfile calendar accolade

Huge congratulations to local nature and wildlife photographer and Visit Shrophire Hills member Terry Moore (of TerryMdC Photography). Terry’s photo ‘Swallowed Hole’ was voted the judges’ favourite in this year’s Countryfile calendar competition, for which the theme was ‘Wild Britain’. The image will appear in households across the country next April.

For more information on Terry’s photography business and his workshops, click here.

The Countryfile calendar is produced in aid of BBC’s Children in Need appeal. Last year the calendars sold raised more than £2.4 million for BBC Children in Need and a minimum of £5.00 from the sale of each calendar will be donated to the BBC Children in Need Appeal. If you haven’t already ordered your calendar, you can order online by clicking the button below.

Housman’s ‘A Shropshire Lad’ Reissued with Stunning Photography

Our local Shropshire photographers have been busy!

If you’re familiar with A. E. Housman’s ‘A Shropshire Lad’ you’ll know it’s an epic collection of sixty-three poems referencing many places in the Shropshire Hills. Originally published in 1896, it has recently been given a complete makeover by Merlin Unwin Booksof Ludlow, with stunning photographs by John Hayward of Shropshire and Beyond.

This full colour edition of the book marks the 50th anniversary of the Housman Society and showcases the Shropshire countryside beautifully. It’s the perfect addition to your library, guest room, holiday let coffee table or your own bookcase.

If you’re interested in guiding visitors towards some of the wonderful locations mentioned in the poems, John has written comprehensive notes on the location of each photograph used in this new edition.

There are also two driving itineraries described in an illustrated booklet ‘Housman’s Shropshire’ – copies are available from Ludlow Tourist Information Centre.
