Prize Winning Duo to perform at the Church Stretton Arts Festival

Good news has just come in from James Girling of the Meraki Duo: “Meera and I just wanted to share with you that we had the honour of receiving 1st prize in the International Chamber Music Competition for Flute & Guitar (II Concurs Internacional de Música Cambra Flauta & Guitarra), last weekend in Spain. It was Meraki Duo’s first time ‘competing’ on an international platform, and it’s nice to have returned back home now for concerts! ”  We can’t wait to welcome them to Church Stretton!

James is the guitarist and Meera Maharaj plays flute in a fascinating and unusual Festival concert that ranges over many genres. Their programme includes ‘Nightclub 1960’ from Histoire Du Tango by Astor Piazzolla; ‘If You Should Go’ & ‘Bayou Home’ by William Grant Still; Arpeggione Sonata in A Minor by Schubert amongst others. The whole programme is listed on their Arts Festival webpage at https://strettonfestival.org.uk/meraki-duo/.
