Shropshire Hills & Ludlow

It’s Ludlow Spring Festival Time!

This year’s Ludlow Spring Festival is this weekend and we are looking forward to another fantastic weekend. The Festival, given the moniker, Beer & Beyond, promises to be a wonderful family affair giving us all an opportunity to celebrate food & drink produced locally. Everything kicks off on  Friday 13th May, so what can you expect from the launch?

The fantastic team responsible for the Ludlow Food Festival are hard at work on site as we speak and will be joined by exhibitors from the crack of dawn in the morning. Whilst you wait for the gates to open at 5pm, inside the famous Festival Pub Marquee, 125 judges will be busy judging 180+ real ales. It is quite a site to behold I am told, and I will be fortunate enough to see all of this in action.

When 5pm finally does arrive and the gates open, you can Meet the Brewer and see Eddy Gartry playing. Eddy Gartry and The Werewolves will be playing from 7-9pm and his set is going to be streamed live both on the Ludlow Spring Festival website and via a new app called CPOBit that you can download now in preparation. This will be the band’s first time at the Spring Festival; they are a 5 piece playing R&B, R&R and Blues so get your dancing shoes at the ready. Eddy Gartry is probably best known as the front man of cult blues bands, Blues State UK, and T Bird Rising. It seems to me that this is a launch not to be missed.

From Saturday onwards you can experience tastings, tipples, talks, treats and so much more. I am looking forward to Chef’s Kitchen and the product launches from Hobson’s Brewery, Oldfields Cider and Willy Chase. My 5 year old is excited about Kidzkitchen and the sausages! Let’s just hope the sun shines over Ludlow this weekend.

Behind the scenes there is an amazing and very talented team of people for whom the Spring Festival is born from real passion, knowledge, enthusiasm and expertise. Lindsey Rollings, Events Manager says, I am very excited about the Spring Festival as it will be my first event since starting my role as Events Manager in February. We have an action packed weekend for our visitors so it’s not to be missed!
