Shropshire Hills & Ludlow

Get ready for a summer of FUN at Ludlow Castle.

Let the good times roll as you step through the gates at Ludlow Castle, as we have a whole host of special activities and events to keep the whole family engaged and smiling throughout the summer…

16/17th August. This is a drop-in experience so no need to book or reserve a slot.

Once the animals depart, we step back in time as the castle’s history bursts into life with an immersive living history weekend. You will learn how to spot nobility from peasantry with our costumes and manners talks, discover the crafts and trades of the time, and hear all about The War of the Roses with a light-hearted gallop through the Cousins Wars.

Be sure not to accidentally get enlisted as the gunnery call sounds, and the bills and bows drill commences and the army marches! Plus, you’ll witness combat skirmishes, and a truly fearsome long bow display demonstrating arrows being shot at, and through armour.

Visitors of all ages can also join The Bowmen of Caradoc, and try archery for themselves for a small extra fee.

23/24/25th August. Talks and skirmishes are timed, please see our website for more information.

Outside of these amazing events, the castle will be open as per usual and you can explore at your leisure. Feel free to bring a picnic or enjoy a lovely lunch from Chapter 66, our onsite restaurant, but do save space for a delicious ice cream from our gift shop!
