However you enjoy cycling, the Shropshire Hills have something to suit everyone. You’ll encounter all kinds of two-wheel fans in the area, from Lycra-clad road-racers taking on every undulation that the Shropshire Hills have to offer, to off-roading mountain bikers ticking off the moorland miles or testing their skills and their nerve on downhill tracks.
Find all about cycle routes in the Shropshire Hills here: gentler routes include the Roman Road from Church Stretton to historic Acton Burnell, or the lovely Teme Valley, near Ludlow and a circular route from Craven Arms, via Acton Scott Historic Working Farm– or you can try a new cycling holiday we’ve developed with Wheely Wonderful Cycling, based near Ludlow, or browse through some of their other great cycling holiday ideas!
Cycle-friendly stops include the Castle Hotel, at Bishop’s Castle, and the White Horse Inn, at Clun. At the White Horse you may well rub shoulders with riders rising to the challenge of cycling from Land’s End to John O’Groats.
You’ll find more about mountain biking – both cross-country and downhill – on our Adventure pages.
