Get off the beaten track and discover our farm surrounded by truly unspoilt countryside.
We have two homely properties on the farm – Orchard House and Rose Cottage – they share our onsite leisure facilities of a large indoor swimming pool, BBQ cabins, games room and children’s outdoor play-area, plus the freedom to roam on our mixed livestock farm. Depending on the time of year you visit there could be lambs to bottle feed, calves to bucket feed or even pigs to scratch, there’s always something to see on a working farm!
Go on take a look at what we have to offer, whether you are looking for a holiday house, a place to catch up with friends or a party venue – we are confident you will not be disappointed by a stay at Hicks Farm! We even have outside caterers who are happy to come and cook for you “at home” – so then you do not even need to worry about cooking for a big party!
Orchard House is a delightful five bedroom barn conversion. Originally a cow byre it has been carefully designed to provide spacious character accommodation with every modern convenience. The house sleeps 14 (plus babies in cots) in five bedrooms. The ground floor, including the downstairs bedroom suite, has fitted hearing loops for the hearing aid user and is wheelchair user friendly. The three master bedrooms all with ensuite bathrooms have their own sitting areas complete with TV’s and tea/coffee making facilities – one bedroom even has an ensuite cot room too!
Rose Cottage sleeps 7 (plus babies in cots). Originally a small early eighteenth century stone dwelling, it has been extended twice to achieve a sizeable three bedroom property. Despite these changes the cottage still boasts some unique original features including exposed beams and a complete bread oven!
The Pool Barn leisure facilities are available all year round. The large warm swimming pool is 11 metres by 5 metres so plenty of room for all the family to play water games or swim lengths. The upstairs games room has a pool table, table football and rowing machine, with a home corner for younger visitors, including a Brio trainset. The ground floor of this building is wheelchair user friendly. Outside the building is a play area with climbing frame, slide and sandpit.
Rose Cottage has a BBQ cabin in its garden and near the play area there is a much larger one which will accommodate everyone from both properties for inside BBQing or sitting round the glowing charcoals (this one also has a bar area with glassware and crockery for you to create your own Bar). The larger cabin is just for Orchard House guests when the properties are booked separately!
Hicks Farm is the ideal location for getting together with family and friends at any time of the year. So whatever your reasons for staying with us, be it for a party or simply to escape to the country , we feel sure that everything at Hicks Farm will match, if not exceed, your expectations of the ideal country retreat for all ages – whatever the weather!
