Hobsons Brewery was born out of a desire to produce delicious regional ale in the picturesque town of Cleobury Mortimer bordering the counties of Shropshire and Worcestershire. Since our beginning in 1993 we have grown from a small microbrewery into one of the leading breweries in the region and one of the most sustainable in the UK.
Hobsons Brewery set out producing real ale in Cask for public houses within a 50-mile radius of the brewery, as demand increased and the taste for Hobsons real ale spread Hobsons became available as a bottled conditioned beer in 2002.
Today we are proud to offer an exciting range of award-winning draught and bottled beers all unique in flavour and crafted with traditional brewing techniques:

Locally sourced ingredients
Dedicated to serving up the finest beer for your enjoyment, we combine the traditional craft of brewing with the highest quality locally sourced ingredients. In 2010 we embarked on an initiative to source locally grown Maris Otter malting barley, a variety recognised in the industry as being the best malting barley available to produce high quality beers with great taste. A small producer’s group was set up with the objective to establish a sustainable supply chain of locally grown malting barley. By setting up a local supply chain of Maris Otter malting barley has enabled the brewery to complete the loop of producing a local pint, as the hops are already grown locally some seven miles from the brewery.
Green thinking
With a wind turbine on site not only are you enjoying great beer but it’s being produced by green energy with the turbine generating one third of the electricity to create each bottle of Hobsons beer. Hobsons has been commended for its green thinking with a National award from the Society of Independent Brewers (SIBA) for “Best Green Business” and “Overall Best Business Winner” 2010. Hobsons also received the Blue Marches Business Water Efficiency award in 2020. Sustainability continues to be an increasingly important part of how Hobsons runs its business and the brewery always strives to reduce its effect on the environment by embracing technologies and harnessing its environmental assets.
