  • The Visitor Centre carries a wide range of potential gifts, all made locally (within 10 miles). Quality and variety is assured.

    Stalls include Fine art prints, cards & jigsaws of local scenes, a varied selection of colourful greetings cards, Handmade adult and children’s aprons in quality cotton. Peg bags, carrier bag holders, tea towels and bunting, individually designed & handmade jewellery, hand knitted and felted items including Hats, Earwarmers, Wristwarmers, Cowls, Snoods, Scarves, Bags, Howie Schiansky pottery, hand crafted metal work by Paul Corfield, including wine racks and candle holders; beautiful fabric covered journals and notebooks and hedgehog letter racks, plus much more…  And of course our renowned homemade cakes!

    The Bog Visitor Centre Creative Workshops 2019

    Wednesday 8th May 10.30-12.30   £20
    Willow weaving with Cathy Preston
    Catalan tension tray or Trivet –
    Based on the Catalan technique for making basket bases. Stiff willow rods are woven over a frame and ribs to create a firm tray or trivet. Depending on size they can make beautiful fruit or bread platters or a coasters for your favourite mug or teapot and when not being used you can hang them on the wall.

    Tuesday 21st May 10.00-12.00   £15
    Silk painting with Maggie Heath Create a small silk painting that could be used in a sewing project or greeting card.

    Tuesday 18th June 10.30 – 1.00    £20
    Felting with Maxine Smith
    Work with local textile artist Maxine Smith to create a brooch using hand felting and embroidery.

    Thursday 11th July 10.30-12.30       £15
    Jewellery making with Lin Brown
    Create a necklace, earrings or bracelet with semi- precious, lampwork and glass beads using a pattern of mine, or your own design, or bring your own beads/necklace to repair or recreate.

    ENHANCING THE BOG VISITOR CENTRE
    Our aim is to ensure this building’s future use as a visitor centre and community hub by stabilising the stone walls, replacing the windows, insulating the roof space, refurbishing the wood block floor and installing heating and lighting in the main hall.
    It is part funded by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development
