Ludlow Castle Case Study

11th December 2019 by goldcontrol

Climate and the Environment

Steps taken so far at Ludlow Castle

General

As lighting is renewed we are replacing the existing with LEDs. We have just a few rooms left in Castle House to do

Ludlow Castle

We have worked on our interpretation for 2020 which includes abolishing the existing tickets (A5 strong paper in 4 different colours printed on both sides). Visitors will receive the till receipt as proof of entry with a guide book

We have increased our number of bins to include separate paper/plastic, bottles and general waste and rent a recycling container to deal with this

Ludlow Castle Shop

We are buying more British made/local goods and do not offer plastic bags anymore

We will be reducing all plastic goods and by the end of 2020 will not stock any

Apartments

We use Who Gives a Crap toilet rolls, kitchen paper and tissues

We do not use plastic bin liners

We supply a welcome pack using all local produce

Where possible all welcome information is emailed to visitors not printed and sent by post

When replacing bedding we will use eco-friendly products

Tea  Rooms

The criteria for Tenants who rent the tea rooms are to provide their recycling processes e.g. the current people only have a 3% waste per day and are to use local produce where possible

We are continually reviewing our practices and will identify changes that can be made
