  • As you might expect from such an historic County, Shropshire is bristling with shops selling antiques and collectibles. Travel around the County visiting towns far and wide to discover your next heirloom and enjoy the friendly atmosphere in all the places you visit. Depending on where you are staying dip in and out of this itinerary for suggestions of where to visit next.

    Church Stretton – 2hrs

    Church Stretton, Shropshire, SY6 6BH

    There is a huge range of stock on offer at Stretton Antiques Market, with over 50 different dealers spread over four floors in one building. If nothing here takes your fancy move on to Cardmill Antiques to browse further. From there head for Longmynd Antiques. If you start to flag stop for coffee at one of the quaint traditional tearooms along the main street.

    Ludlow – 3hrs

    Ludlow, Shropshire, SY8 1AY

    Allow plenty of time to explore the variety of Antique shops in Ludlow, the perfect place for a nostalgic browse. There are several interesting businesses on Corve Street, start at the bottom with Holloways of Ludlow – traditional and contempory bathrooms, radiators, lighting, ironmongery and much more. Two doors up is The Period House Shop – everything for renovation and restoration of your period home! On further for Legacy lighting – antique and reproduction light fittings. Into Tower Street to find The Renaissance Centre where you may just find somthing amongst their refurbished furniture. There are an eclectic mix of places to eat and drink in Ludlow or pick up a feast to take home from the Local Produce Market.


    Leominster – 3hrs

    Leominster, Herefordshire, HR6 8YP

    Just over the border into Herefordshire, Leominster offers a treasure trove of interesting specialist shops. Start on Broad Street, where you will find Great Expectations, Leominster Antique Market and Minster House Antiques, as well as Brightwells fine art saleroom. Visit Old Merchants House in Corn Square and The Barometer Shop on New Street. Once again Leominster has lots of quirky coffee shops and restaurants to rest between shopping!

    Bridgnorth – 2hrs

    Bridgnorth, Shropshire, WV15 5AG

    Start in Low Town with the Old Mill Antiques Centre, a treasure trove selling antique books, antique furniture, antique jewellery, antique clocks and antique china. There is also a coffee shop. A stroll along the river and over the bridge will bring you to a couple of other antique shops.

    Much Wenlock – 2hrs

    Much Wenlock, Shropshire, TF13 6HR

    Famous as the birth place of the Olympic Games you will also find an interesting little bric a brac shop in Much Wenlock. With the stock spilling out on to the pavement the shop is crammed with no end of china and collectibles. Whilst in Much Wenlock take time to visit the quirky little museum with an eclectic mix of items relating to the town’s varied history.

    Shrewsbury – 4hrs

    As you would expect Shrewsbury has several Antique shops, all well worth a browse. Mainly located in The Square they are easy to find.

    Whitchurch – 2hrs

    Whitchurch, Shropshire, SY13 1BA

    In the North Shropshire town of Whitchurch, Quayside Antiques have a large showroom displaying mainly Victorian and Edwardian mahogany furniture. They normally stock up to fifteen large mahogany dining tables, seating from six to sixteen people. To compliment these quality antique tables, they display numerous sets of mahogany dining chairs in a variety of styles.

    Bishop’s Castle – 1hrs

    Bishop’s Castle, Shropshire, SY9 5AD

    Decorative Antiques in Bishop’s Castle specialise in art glazed pottery, art glass, metal ware, costume jewellery, evening bags, early plastics, lighting and small furniture. They also sell a small selection of reference books covering some of the above areas. Usually the products of commercial manufacturers, the items they stock are often unique and interesting for the decorative effects achieved.
