Inkwell Writers Course

Tutored Creative Writing Retreat

Discover your inner writer in beautiful settings with experienced creative writing tutors. This residential course offers you the chance to explore your voice and build on a range of writing techniques with like-minded people.

At whatever stage you happen to be, whether that is on the point of publication or at the beginning of your writing journey, allow yourself peace and space to release your creative energy. Writers in all genres are invited to take part in this course. The tutors, Olivia Levez, Eleanor Porter, Tim Reeves and Michael Woods are published authors in poetry and prose with a wealth of experience as creative writing lecturers and tutors, editors and working with agents. Please visit  for more detail.

The course will consist of workshops, critique groups, one to one sessions, readings and a celebratory performance of participants’ work on the final night. In addition, we are delighted that Carol Ann Duffy will be the guest reader for one evening during the week. As well as having written poems for both adults and children, she is also a playwright, librettist, reviewer, editor and professor in the Creative Writing School at Manchester Metropolitan University. Having recently finished her tenure as Poet Laureate, here is a rare opportunity to hear and talk to one of the most influential poets of our time. Sincerity, her most recent collection, is a tour de force.

Walcot Hall is the perfect setting for this course which focuses on place, and will run from 9-14 March, 2020 (arrive on the Monday from 4.00pm, depart on Saturday at 10.30am).

There are 16 places available. The cost is £625 (single room), £575 (shared room). All meals are included and there is complimentary fizz on the first night.
